FBI – Report on China
I was lucky enough to receive a presentation from the FBI on the CCCP. Here is the notes I made;
The CCCP government have Federal Law that all citizens must follow and if you have a family member in China they could be punished if you do not support the following laws.
- State Security Law (2015) – Obligates all Chinese nationals to preserve China’s national security, by supporting investigations, sharing information or providing material support.
- National Security Law (2016) – Prohibits dissemination of illegal and harmful information.
- Counterterrorism Law (2016) request firms to delete all illegal content, shut down illegal websites and block international dissemination of banned content.
- Cyber security Law (2017) Prohibits the use of networks that harm national unity or spread false information that disrupts social order and blocks unapproved cross-border data flows, mandates domestic storage of data.
- E-Commerce Law (2018) Codifies new data security requirements for e-commerce providers, could be used to create barriers for foreign firms.
- Encryption Law (2018) requires firms to gain government security review and approval of encryption of technology requires critical infrastructure to use approve encryption
